LAKE SAN MARCOS, Calif. — The Oklahoma City University women’s golf team edged closer to British Columbia in the second round of the NAIA Women’s Championship at Lake San Marcos Country Club, as they are in a tie for second place, just three strokes behind the leader.

British Columbia carded the best score of the day with a 312, while Embry Riddle posted a 313, to tie Oklahoma City for second place, after the Storm posted a second round score of 315.

Edmond Memorial product Sydney Cox posted a 86 to fall into a tie for 54th.

The junior got off to a good start, earning her first birdie of the tournament, on her first hole of the day — No. 10 a 480 yard par 5 — but followed with a double bogey on No. 12.

Star’s teammate Ashley Sholer posted a 3-over 75 to move up into a tie for fifth place, while Laura Jones and Christina Cung are deadlocked in a tie for 21st place at 15-over.

Embry Riddle’s Tara Allen is in sole possession of first place with rounds of 76-74, as she holds a three-stroke advantage on Cal State San Marcos’ Carly Ludwig.

Cal State San Marcos dropped from first place in the standings to fourth place, shooting 311-326.

Sooner Athletic Conference members Lubbock Christian and Southern Nazarene are both in the top 15, with LCU in eighth place, 19 strokes off the pace, while SNU is in 15th.
