Arnold, Griggs three back at Twin Hills Junior Classic

A pair of Edmond golfers are within striking distance after the first round of the Twin Hills Junior Classic in Oklahoma City. Travis Arnold and Edmond North’s Chase Griggs finished play on Tuesday afternoon in a tie for fourth place with a 1-under 71, just three back of the lead.
Arnold was one over through the front nine, but birdied No. 10, 13, 15 and 16 to finish with a round of 71. Griggs also shined on the back nine with four birdies, after three bogeys on the front nine.
Recent Putnam City graduate Hunter Sparks grabbed the lead Tuesday, shooting a 4-under 68. The Wichita State signee has a two-stroke lead over Piedmont’s Hunter Wade and Norman’s Drew Right.
Austen Fuller, Rustin Purser, Grant Vanhoose and Zach Tucker are in a tie for eighth place with a 1-over 73. Derek Myers and Landon Morgan shot a 2-over 74, while Alec Heinen and Max Myers had a 75.
Second round action of the Oklahoma Golf Association event begins this morning at 8:30 a.m. at Twin Hills Country Club.
