Domek holds one-stroke lead

Four local players in top 5 at OGA Oak Tree Junior

Jordan Domek heads into the final round of the OGA’s Oak Tree Junior Open with a one-stroke lead after carding a 1-over par 71 in the 36-hole event.

Domek was consistent on the day with one birdie — on No. 15, which is a 405-yard par 4 — while making par on 15 holes.

Edmond players are dominating the event with just one out-of-town player in the top five.

Austen Fuller and Tulsa’s Cole Wiederkehr are just one stroke behind at 2-over.

Clark Collier and Jackson Ogle are tied for fourth with a pair of 73’s, while Jamie Gray, of Duncan, is tied for sixth at 5-over.

Gray is followed by Clayton Hooper, of Norman, David McMurry, of Ardmore, Taylor Williams, of Chickasha, and Mitchell Moore rounding out the top 10.



DORSEY MAKES HIS MOVE

Santa Fe’s Drew Dorsey moved up 15 spots on the leaderboard at the PING Phoenix Junior, an AJGA event, at Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix, Ariz.

Dorsey, a senior-to-be, shot a 2-under 70 on Tuesday, after posting a 76 in the first round. He now is tied for 28th in the standings.

Dorsey got off to a fast pace picking up three birdies on the first four holes. He finished the front nine at 3-under, and was on pace to finish the day at 6-under, but was hampered by bogeys on hole Nos. 16, 17 and 18. Dorsey had bogeys on the same three holes on Monday.

North’s Chandler Rusk dropped three spots, but still posted a 1-under 71 on his round.

Rusk had birdies on hole Nos. 3, 9 and 16, but ended his round with a bogey on No. 18.

“This feels good,” Hernandez said. “I didn't have any bogeys today and my iron shots set me up really close to the flagstick to make putts easier.”

Jaun Pablo Hernandez leads the tournament by one stroke after going 69-65. Landon Tujague, who was a co-leader after the first round, fell to second at 9-under.



O’CONNOR IN 11TH AT SCISSORTAIL JUNIOR

North’s Greg O’Connor is in 11th place at the Scissortail Junior Championship held at Emerald Falls Golf Club in Broken Arrow.

O’Connor is 3-over after carding a 1-over 73 on the second day of action.

Cody Kent, of Castle Rock, Colo., remains the leader at 4-under. Enid’s Chris Worrell is second, three-strokes behind the leader.
