Two of the state’s best volleyball teams were in action on Monday night — they were even in the same gym — but we’re still weeks away from the Edmond Triangular.
North and Santa Fe dominated Putnam City North, handing the Lady Panthers a pair of lopsided defeats.
Santa Fe started its season first, blowing out PC North 25-14, 15-9, 25-14.
The Lady Huskies then whalloped the PC North 25-9, 25-7, 25-14.
North’s middle blocker’s had a huge night — Rachel Watson had four kills hitting .429, while Torrie Flynn also had four kills and hit .500.
Senior Emily Cobb had four kills for the Lady Huskies, and Allie Hammer had four aces.
“We need to improve a lot before October, but I thought we got much better in the third set. I liked our composure and I think we are where we need to be at this point in the season,” North head coach Jessica Dickerson said. “Overall, I’m really proud of the way the team played tonight.”
North will not be in action until Friday when it travels to Tulsa Union, while Santa Fe will play again today at the Putnam City/Mustang Triangular.
