Edmond girls grab titles at Beat the Heat

After watching the Edmond boys soccer teams compete at the Beat the Heat Tournament earlier this month, it was the girls turn to shine last weekend. A pair of Edmond Soccer Club teams came home champions, as the 14th annual tournament wrapped up Sunday afternoon at the ESC Complex.
The ESC 91 Black and ESC 98 Black clubs each swept through their tournaments and claimed a title at the weekend tournament. The ESC 91 Black girls won the Under-18 gold tournament with a 2-1 victory over Viatia 91 (Mo.). And the ESC 98 Black girls took the U-11 gold tournament title with a 3-1 victory over Extreme FC 98 (Okla.) on Sunday.
A pair of local clubs also finished runner-up last weekend. The ESC 93 Black girls took second with a 2-0 loss to Andromeda 93 (Texas) in the U-16 gold tournament. And the ESC 98 White team was second in the U-11 silver tournament, after losing to NYSA Fury 98 Hooker (Okla.) in the finals.
The ESC 91 White girls also put forth a strong performance, winning the consolation championship of the U-18 silver tournament. While ESC 96 Black, ESC 99 Academy, ESC 94 Black each advanced to the semi-finals.
