Lady Wolves dump PC West

For the second night in a row, the Edmond Santa Fe girls brought out the fireworks. The Lady Wolves scored 11 runs in the first inning and easily put away Putnam City West with a 15-1 win in five innings on Wednesday night.

“The girls were swinging when they got the opportunity, and they’re getting better day by day,” Santa Fe coach Rhonda Lawson said. “We’re just continuing to jell together.”

The Lady Wolves got off to a fast start, scoring 11 runs in the first inning. Hayden James had two hits and drove in four runs in the first inning. Sierra Bronkey added a pair of hits, as the Lady Wolves put PC West in an early 11-0 hole.

Santa Fe (5-2) got after it again in the bottom of the third inning. Cailee Null, James, Jackie Wiist and Madison Martin each scored in the inning to extend the lead.

Bronkey started the game for Santa Fe, but threw just one inning. Martin came on in the second and threw four hit-less innings of relief and struck out three.

James finished the night 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBI, and Bronkey was 2-for-2.

Next up for Santa Fe will be the Prague Tournament. The Lady Wolves open the tournament with Meeker at 10 a.m.
