The Deer Creek girls continued to shine in the Shawnee Tournament. After knocking off Ada on Thursday afternoon, the Lady Antlers swept their Friday competition.
Christie Yetter kept the Seminole batters off-balance and earned a 5-1 win in the opener. Amanda Alston then hit a two-run homer in the second game, as the Lady Antlers dropped Durant 4-2.
“They’re coming around most definitely,” Deer Creek coach Erin Regier said. “We’re still giving up some hits at end which we don’t want to do, but they’re executing at the plate.”
Deer Creek’s lone loss of the tournament came on Friday against No. 8-ranked McAlester. An error led to the only run of the game, as McAlester came out on top 1-0.
The Lady Antlers return to action for their final tournament game against Booker T. Washington at 2:30 p.m. The girls will also play at home on Monday in a makeup game with Harrah. The JV girls will take the field at 4 p.m. and the varsity to follow at 5.
