Eagles fall in opener

Oklahoma Christian Academy did not get off the type of start they’d hoped to on Friday night, in their first game since joining the OSSAA. A couple of special team miscues put the Eagles in an early hole against Paoli, and they never recovered, losing by a final score of 46-0.

“Offensively just didn’t get anything going, it was just inexperience and first game jitters,” OCA coach Keith Lough said.

The Eagles struggled to get much going offensively, and missed the play of running back Parker Randell, who sat out after suffering a concussion in last week’s scrimmage.

Lough said he was impressed with the play of defensive end Zeke McCune, and Nick Stanford, who filled in for Randell on both sides of the ball and led the team in tackles.

“I thought Nick played really well for freshman, and just really did a good job for us,” Lough said.

Paoli scored twice early in the first quarter off a pair of fumbled returns, and took a 40-0 lead into the locker room at halftime. The home team then ended the game when they scored a touchdown six minutes into the third quarter.

OCA will look to get back on track next week when they travel to Depew.
