Saints down Blackwell

Oklahoma Christian found about every different way to score Friday night. The Saints creative scoring scheme led to a 27-6 win over Blackwell.

“It was a good game, the kids played well and executed,” OCS head coach Tracy Holland said.

Taylor Frost was a scoring machine for the Saints. The senior scored 17 of the team’s 27 points and ran for 44 yards. Senior George Overbey threw for 187 yards and a score, as well as picking up 35 yards on the ground.

Coach Holland was also pleased with the way the defense shut down the Maroons offensive weapons. Senior safety Joey Fallon was solid, and he helped the Saints secondary limit Blackwell quarterback Beau Marsain to complete just 35 percent of his passes.

“He (Fallon) was on top of it defensively, and made sure we were in the right coverages,” Holland said.

After a quiet start, Blackwell put the first points on the board in the second quarter when Marsain scored from four-yards out to make it a 6-0 game.

The Saints answered back when Overbey hit Tucker Holland on a short pass, and he pitched it to Frost, who ran it 46-yards for the score. Frost added the extra point to give OCS the 7-6 lead at the break.

Frost stretched the Saints lead in the third quarter when he hit a 24-yard field goal to make it a 10-6 lead. Blackwell’s punter then had a snap sail over his head and he kicked it out of the end zone for a safety to make it a 12-6 game.

In the fourth quarter Overbey ran one in from five-yards out. He added the two-point conversion when he hit Tucker Holland with a pass to give the Saints a 20-6 lead. Frost rounded out the scoring when he scored on a five-yard run and added the extra point to make it a 27-6 final.

OCS will gear up for their first home game of the season when they host Bethel on Sept. 21.
