OCS topples Watonga

The Oklahoma Christian School Saints may have started out slow in Friday night’s football matchup, but utilized a huge second half to pull away from the Watonga Eagles, winning 41-29.
“We played tight in the first half and never seemed to get things going” head football coach Derek Turner said.
The second half told a different story for the Saints, as they scored 35 points to deliver the knockout punch to the Eagles, who never recovered. Jeff Smith was definately the star player for Saints’ offense rushing for 216 yards on 27 carries and racking up four touchdowns. Smith also added an interception on defense. “Its hard to get better than 200 yards, Jeff Smith played a phenomenal game for us tonight” Turner said.
OCS’ defense also had a standout second half forcing turnovers and holding off and Eagle comeback efforts. “Jeff Leevy had a great game, it seemed like he made every tackle, Jake Tillman also played great for us, those two guys really had outstanding effort for us tonight,” Turner said.
“Watonga is a good team, they were definately the team to beat in our district and they never gave up, there was no quit in them tonight,” Turner said of the Saints opponent. “Our offensive line really helped us tonight, they were just beasts up front,” Turner said.
Next week OCS returns to Edmond for their homecoming to matchup in a non-district game with Wynnewood.
