Edmond North’s trip to regionals proved to be a brief one, as the Lady Huskies season ended with a pair of losses to Bartlesville and Jenks on Wednesday afternoon.
North opened tournament play with a narrow 4-1 loss to No. 7-ranked Bartlesville, and later fell to Jenks by a final score of 8-3.
“We played really well the first one, and then made some errors in the second game that cost us,” North coach Rick Nordyke said.
Kady Self homered in the top of the fifth inning of North’s first game of the day, giving the Lady Huskies a 2-1 lead. But Bartlesville answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning and went on to win 4-2.
Kelsie Fitch drove in one run in the fourth inning, when she hit a sacrifice fly, scoring Navotni Minter to tie the game 1-1.
Braxton Coil had a strong performance in the Lady Huskies second game of the day. The freshman drove in three runs and finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate, but it was not enough to overcome North’s sloppy defense. The Lady Huskies committed five errors, which led to five runs for the Trojans, who went on to win 8-3.
