OCA looks to make two straight against Prue

Last year Prue proved to be the lucky charm for the Oklahoma Christian Academy football team. After starting the season 0-8, the Eagles (1-7, 1-5) got their first taste of victory with a 54-38 victory against the Rockets (2-6, 0-6). The OCA boys are hoping for the same results Friday night when they head to Prue in search of their second district win.

“We’re looking forward to this one, we think we have good chance to come out on top against Prue,” OCA coach Keith Lough said. “Talent-wise I hope we match up with them, they’re low on numbers.”

The Rockets are coming off its second win of the season, as they topped Riverfield 20-16 in a muddy contest last Friday night. Their only other win this season came in week one when they won at home against Class C’s Kinta 36-16.

“I think we’ll be successful if we go play, but we can’t assume anything,” Lough said. “This is probably their only chance for district win, so they’ll put it all on the line and we’re at their place.”

Lough said he’d like to see his offense get back on track, after getting shutout for the first time this season. The Eagles moved the ball several times against Davenport, but never found the end zone. That task should be more obtainable this week against the Prue defense, which is surrendering 44.6 points per game.

The Eagles offense should also see a boost with the return of junior linemen in Zeke McCune and Matt Allen.

“We were a little dinged up here and there, but I think other than Stephen Brown, who is out for the year, we’re back at full strength on Friday night,” Lough said.

Offensively the Rockets have been able to put up points, having scored more than 40 points in a pair of losses to Agra and Bowlegs. They like to run a lot of spread offense and are not afraid to throw in a few trick plays.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
