Regular season runner-up Central Oklahoma placed three players on the first-team All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Women’s Soccer Team that was announced Friday.
Making the first-team unit for the Bronchos was goalkeeper Meagan Burke, fullback Jordan Hutchison and forward Brittni Walker, while fullback Miranda Thorne, midfielders Alyssa Anderson, Stephanie Fleig, Summer Grantham and Brittany King and forward Caitlin Bond were all named honorable mention.
Hutchison and Walker were also selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VII Team that was released Friday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Burke, a senior transfer from Lakewood, Colo., has played 1,677 of 1,780 possible minutes in goal this season, having allowed just 10 goals while making 58 saves and posting nine shutouts.
Hutchison has been a dominant defender all season for the Bronchos as UCO has allowed only 11 goals, including three in the last 10 games. The Edmond junior is a criminal justice major with a 3.81 grade point average and will now go on the Academic All-America ballot.
Walker is leading the team in scoring for the fourth straight year with 21 points, topping the Bronchos in goals (eight) and assists (five). A senior from Midwest City, she has a 3.38 GPA in kinesiology and will join Hutchison on the Academic All-America ballot.
The Bronchos, 15-1-3 on the season, play Fort Hays State in the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament Friday night at 6 p.m. in Warrensburg, Mo.
