EDMOND — No. 3-ranked Edmond North had little trouble disposing of Choctaw on Tuesday night at the Siberian Gym as Kelsey Philhower and Elizabeth Donohoe both scored in double digits, as the Lady Huskies rolled to a 49-25 win.
It was North’s (17-2) second win in as many nights.
“It’s tough playing two very physical teams back to back like that,” North head coach Kevin Korstjens said. “It’s also difficult to hold anyone to 25 points, we played well defensively. It was a good test for us, playing through injuries.”
Donohoe was held to just four points in the first half but it didn’t matter. The Lady Huskies had already built a commanding 29-14 lead.
North came out in the third and got right back after it, outscoring Choctaw 17-5 to take a 46-19 lead.
The Lady Huskies got a lot of help from several different players. Donohoe and Philhower, each had 10 points, Emily Davis had nine, TaNita Dewberry had eight, while Anna Kimsey had seven. Jennifer Lee finished with three.
Kortstjens was able to rest his starting lineup in the fourth quarter, where they scored just three points, all coming from Davis.
“It was good to rest them in the fourth, we’ve got a really tough game with Yukon coming up on Friday night. That is always a tough place to play, I think we only beat them by three last year,” Korstjens said. “When you play three games in five days, your players are not getting much rest. But it’s almost like playing in a tournament.”
Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. at Yukon on Friday night.
