EDMOND — The Edmond Memorial freshmen girls basketball team used a strong fourth quarter to power past Midwest City on Monday night 48-40.
The Lady Bulldogs (9-6) outscored the visitors 13-4 in the fourth quarter to erase a 36-35 deficit.
“Baylor Bell and Lindsay Roy had their best game and it was right when we needed it,” head coach Janet Chartney said.
Bell finished with eight points, while Roy had 11. Sarah Steward was also in double-figures with a team-high 12 points.
“Kaleigh Troxell is so steady handling the ball. We hit 17 free throws with Stewart hitting nine of those,” Chartney said.
The Lady ‘Dogs got off to a good start in the first quarter as the teams went into the second tied at 14-14. But costly turnovers allowed the Bombers to go into the break with a 25-20 lead.
Chartney’s team took control in the third quarter to cut it to a one-point deficit.
Troxell finished with six points, Jade George had four, Sayre Ogle had three, Haley Squier and Kristen Macy, had two apiece.
