Central Oklahoma dropped one spot in the latest NCAA Division II wrestling rankings, coming in at No. 3 in the Division II Wrestling Coaches Association poll that was released Thursday.
The seven-time Division II champion Bronchos received one first-place vote and finished with 144 points in balloting of head coaches from around the country, coming in behind Nebraska-Kearney and Newberry. The defending champion Lopers earned four first-place votes and were No. 1 with 150 points, while the Wolves were right behind with three first-place votes and 149 points.
St. Cloud State (Minn.) came in fourth in the poll by two points over Upper Iowa. Rounding out the top 10 is Grand Canyon (Ariz.), Notre Dame (Ohio), Findlay (Ohio) Minnesota State-Mankato, Ouachita Baptist (Ark.) and West Liberty (W.Va.).
UCO has six individuals ranked in the top eight at their respective weight, led by junior Jordan Basks as the No. 2 pick at 149 pounds. Junior Casy Rowell is third at 133, while senior 174 Kelly Henderson and senior 184 Tanner Keck are both ranked fourth, sophomore 165 Chris Watson seventh and junior heavyweight Cody Dauphin eighth.
The Bronchos, 1-1 in duals, will travel to the 16-team NWCA Division II National Duals Jan. 12-13 in Springfield, Ill. The top nine teams in the poll along with No. 13 Augustana (S.D.), No. 17 Wisconsin-Parkside, No. 19 Fort Hays State (Kan.) and No. 20 Kutztown (Pa.) will be competing in the tournament.
