The Edmond Sun

EDMOND — A number of Edmond and Deer Creek athletes signed national letters of intent to play ball on the collegiate level this week.

The most high-profile signee is Santa Fe football defensive back Khari Harding, who will play at Auburn University.

North football offensive line standout Heath Newland will have preferred walk-on status at the University of Oklahoma.

A pair of state tennis champions from North, Ann Pepper and Nate Roper, will head to OU and Oklahoma State University, respectively. Lady Huskies soccer star and former All-Edmond soccer Player of the Year Courtney Dike will take to the pitch at OSU.

A pair of Deer Creek Antlers, linebacker Kooper Ruminer and running back/linebacker Brennan Miyake, will stay close at the University of Oklahoma.

Deer Creek quarterback Joel Blumenthal, who reportedly had offers from larger schools, has chosen Butler County Community College in Kansas, known for developing quarterbacks.

Oklahoma Christian School had two football players sign letters, and several other Saints are looking at options, OCS Athletic Director Mark Shuck said.
