North's Heinen, Humphreys, lead Huskies to Bulldog title

EDMOND —         Despite ripping winds, Edmond North golfers Nick Heinen and Sam Humphreys each shot in the 60s, leading the Huskies to an easy first-place finish in the Edmond Bulldog Invitational held at KickingBird Golf Course Tuesday.

    Heinen nipped Memorial’s Jacob Bishop by a single stroke for medalist honors, firing 66 and 67 respectively while Humphreys seized the bronze with a 69.

    North cleared the Bulldogs by a 17-stroke cushion for team honors, 277-294 while Deer Creek placed third with a 298. Every golfer for Edmond North shot below 75 in spite of the brisky conditions. Husky Hayden Wood dropped in an even-par 70 ensued by teammates Tyson Reeder (71), Eli Armstrong (72) and Griffin Pierce (74).

    For the Dogs, Ryan Roberts (75), Trent Evans (75), Ty Tamura (77) and Jacob Prentice (79) all shot in the 70s behind Bishop’s 67.

    Edmond Memorial’s white team had Garrett Hobbs drop in a 71, followed by teammates McCain Schellhardt (73), Joel Prentice (76), Payton Moore (82) and Austin Frank (87).

    Deer Creek was led by Austin Dobbs’ 72 ensued by Daniel Wyatt’s and Brady Bellinger’s 75s, Kyle Walkabout’s 76 and Ty Brooking’s 82.

    Edmond Memorial will compete next at Owasso on April 15.
