SHREVEPORT, La. —
Edmond Memorial went down to the bayou and came away with the Holiday Classic Dual championship in Shreveport, La. Saturday.
Bulldogs Grayson Boker, LaDaryn Lockett and Seth Richards each ran roughshod through the competition, blazing to 7-0 records with six falls each.
Teammates Connor Shanks and Seth Graves also compiled undefeated 7-0 marks, with four falls apiece. Fellow Bulldog Jeremy Morgan pinned three opponents, also netting a sparkling 7-0 showing in the tournament.
“Each of these guys turned in stellar performances and helped the team to a first-place finish,” Memorial head coach Darren Huff said after the tourney victory. “It was a great experience and a learnng one for all of our guys. Hopefully, they will carry some of the momentum into the second half of the season.
“They are really improving, but can’t get satisfied with this success and slow down. They should enjoy it, but not get satisfied.”
Memorial grapplers with just a single loss included Jake Mammen, Ashton Stovall, Ryley West, Alton Petit and Colton Terrell. Teammates Tristan McBee and Jacob Moore ended the Holiday Classic with just a pair of losses and Bulldog Sam Osborne dropped only three individual matches.
In junior varsity action, Memorial captured the bronze medal as Zeke Mammen powered to a 6-1 mark with all of wins being pins. Teammates Bryton Cunningham (4 falls) and Carson Viviani (2 falls) also went 6-1.
The ‘Dogs will next compete Jan. 9 at Putnam City against Broken Arrow in a district dual at 7 p.m.
