The defending state champion Edmond North Huskies rolled through 3-Dog Night Tuesday, pinning both Edmond Memorial and Santa Fe, 64-12 and 58-9 respectively at North High School for their 13th consecutive city title. Memorial topped Santa Fe, 47-15.
On Thursday, the Huskies moved to 4-0 in duals by knocking off Putnam North on the road by a 43-31 count. Edmond North picked up four consecutive falls in weights 195-heavyweight (Derek White 2:21, Lance Dixon 1:18 and Andrew Dixon 1:20).
“I feel we are finally coming together as a team,” North coach Andrew Schneider said. “We had been battling sickness, some minor injuries and some weight issues.
“We (also) had a strong tournament showing at Geary last weekend with only 11 out of 14 wrestlers.”
The Huskies placed second by only two points to Broken Arrow in Geary. They set a school-record by having five individual champions in Paxton Rosen (106 pounds), Joel Dixon (182), White (195, Outstanding Wrestler), Lance Dixon (220) and Andrew Dixon (Hwt.).
North will compete in the Sand Springs Tournament tonight and Saturday.
