OKLAHOMA CITY — The Oklahoma Christian School Saints built a 5-run lead in the first two innings at Casady Monday afternoon, and held a 5-3 advantage until the wheels fell off in the sixth inning and the Saints gave up six runs en route to a 9-5 loss.
OCS put up four runs in the first inning on five singles by Callen Crockett, Austin Roberts, Jonah Sloup, Sam Peslis and Paden Green and a sacrifice by Tristan Newbold. The Saints tacked on another run in the second frame when Peyton Ravencraft walked, stole second and scored on a Roberts single.
OCS starting pitcher Sloup was sharp through five innings, scattering eight hits and walking just two in allowing three runs before the Cyclones staged a two-out rally in the sixth inning. Sloup also struck out five and induced a double play turned by Crockett, Levi Hutchinson and Tanner Lewis. The Saints committed a pair of fielding errors in the game.
At the plate the Saints were led by Roberts (2-for-4, 2 RBI, 1 run scored), Green (2-for-4, 1 RBI), Peslis (2-for-4, 1 run) and Sloup (2-for-4, 1 run).
The loss puts the Saints at 3-19. OCS is scheduled to welcome Piedmont on Tuesday.
