EDMOND — Oklahoma Christian School welcomed Class 4A’s Bethany Friday night and split with the Bronchos.

The Lady Saints opened things with a 58-48 win, while the Saints fell 64-44 in the nightcap.

The OCS girls fired out a 21-point second quarter on seven points from Nicole Aparicio and six from Liz Maher to take a 31-19 lead into the half.

The Lady Bronchos came out strong in the third, putting up 15 points to the Lady Saints’ 11 to cut the lead to 42-34 going into the final frame.

OCS went to the line 12 times in the fourth quarter and converted on nine to hold on for the 58-48 win. The Lady Saints got six points in the second half from Leslie Shuck, all on free throws.

Maher led OCS with 15 points and nine rebounds, followed by 10 points apiece from Dani Childress, who also had three steals, and Madeline Bowen. Shuck also threw in eight rebounds and six assists. Aparicio and Childress each had three blocks on the night.

Things started promising for the Saints against Class 4A’s No. 5 team, as OCS got eight points from Nate Apple and finished the first quarter down only 11-10 to the 15-1 Bronchos. A 26-point Bethany second quarter, however, put the Saints down as they entered halftime facing a 37-23 deficit.

Bethany’s speedy attack and pesky defense put OCS in a 12-7 third-quarter hole, and despite a 14-point output in the fourth quarter, the Saints fell 64-44.

Apple led OCS with 14 points, followed by 11 from Garrett Kilborn and nine from Justin Harris.
