OKLAHOMA CITY — The Edmond swimming team took three of four titles last weekend as they competed in the Mid-State and Metro Conference Championships at Oklahoma City Community College. Edmond North swept the Metro Conference meet while the Lady Bulldogs won their 31st conference title on Saturday.
North’s Faye Reilley won two individual events, taking the 200 Individual Medley and the 100 Backstroke. She then swam with Kathryn Rykard, Katie Sabatino and Shelbi McVay, in winning the 200 Free Relay. Rykard and McVay were also members of the winning 400 Free Relay along with Ann-Marie Stowe and Megan Snelling. Stowe won the 200 Freestyle for the Lady Huskies, and Rykard won gold in the 100 Freestyle.
The Santa Fe girls finished third and were led by Crista Riggs, who won the 100 Butterfly, and Shelby Laramore, who took the 500 Freestyle.
The North boys won all but one event with Dylan Anderson and Sean Simpson each winning to individual titles. Anderson won the 200 Individual Medley and 500 Freestyle, while Simpson won the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke events. Ford Parsons won the 200 Freestyle, with Josh McPherson taking the 100 Freestyle and Zane Gray the 100 Breaststroke for the Huskies.
The Huskies swept the relays with the 200 Medley Relay team of Simpson, John Alba, Gray, and Parsons taking first. North also took the 200 Free Relay with Alba, McPherson, Cole Daniel, and Gray, and the 400 Free Relay with Simpson, Anderson, McPherson, and Parsons.
The top finishers for third-place Wolves were the 400 Free Relay team of Jacob Stein, Colton Laramore, Keenan Stewart, and Daniel Stein, who finished second.
The Mid-State Conference meet was a battle between Memorial and the two Norman schools. The Memorial girls won their 31st title out of 33 years that the girls meet has been held. Kaitlin Kliewer won the 200 Individual Medley for the Lady Bulldogs, with Carlie Pearson taking the 100 Butterfly and Katherine Pendergraft winning the 100 Freestyle. The three then swam with Brianna Loper, in winning the 200 Free Relay.
In the boys meet, the only Edmond victory was the 200 Free Relay with the team of Nick Welch, Willy Utsch, Grant Scepanski, and Andy Wang. Norman won the boys title.
In the Metro Conference, both the North girls and boys teams dominated the field, with Santa Fe finishing third in both meets.
