Central Oklahoma’s perennial powerhouse soccer program added nine new players Wednesday on the first day high school recruits could sign national letters of intent.
UCO inked seven in-state standouts in Simone Ryan and Lexi Carol of Norman North High School, Elle Stover and Elizabeth DiSalvatore of Westmoore High School, Courtney Essary of Carl Albert High School, Reagan Ballard of Edmond Memorial High School and Bailee Muller of Catoosa High School along with Texas products Alex Williams of McKinney and Laura Tone of Dallas.
“We’re very excited with our 2014 recruiting class,” said veteran head coach Mike Cook, who has led the Bronchos to 239 wins and nine national tournament berths in 16 years at the helm. “Top to bottom, it is a very solid class. We really felt like each of these players has the potential to come in and make an immediate impact while adding great depth at every position.”
A look at UCO’s signees:
Reagan Ballard • 5-7 • Defender • Edmond (Memorial)
All-District pick last spring after helping lead the Bulldogs to the Class 6A state tournament.
Coach Cook Says: “A very good left-footed player who can get up and down the left side. She should be able to create some opportunities out of the back as well as being a solid defender.”
Lexi Carol • 5-5 • Forward • Norman (North)
Earned All-District, All-Conference and second-team Oklahoman Big All-City honors as a junior last spring after helping guide Norman North High School to the Class 6A state tournament . . . Also a track standout for the Timberwolves.
Coach Cook Says: “A forward with good pace and technique who is going to be very exciting to watch. She can create scoring opportunities as well as put some balls in the back of the net.”
Elizabeth DiSalvatore • Forward • Moore (Westmoore)
Coach Cook Says: “Another good, strong forward with potential to be a hand full up front. Gives added options at forward.”
