Antler D.J. Niebrugge’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning Friday night sent Deer Creek into Saturday’s regional championship game at Deer Creek High School.
Earlier in the day, the Antlers clobbered Del City 27-0. But in game two versus Lawton MacArthur, it took extra innings to advance by a 3-2 count.
In the last of the ninth, Alex Forget led off with a triple and Tucker Fox was hit with a pitch. After an intentional walk to load the bases, Niebrugge hit a ball deep enough to enable Forget to cross the dish for the winning run.
Deer Creek’s Cole Lindley and Dylan Rycroft each batted 2-for-4 in the game.
Antler hurler Michael Brinska allowed just one hit over 7 2/3 innings but was not the pitcher of record.
Teammate Ben Heigle came in in relief to whiff three in the final 1 1/3 innings for the pitching win.
