Special to The Sun

EDMOND — Central Oklahoma’s Josh Gibbs has been named Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Player of the Week after leading the Bronchos to a pair of league road wins last week.

The 6-foot-5 junior guard averaged 24.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in wins over Truman State and Lindenwood while shooting 60.0 percent from the field, including 55.6 percent from 3-point range.

Gibbs scored a season-high 27 points and pulled down seven rebounds in an 85-80 win over TSU last Thursday, then had a double-double with 22 points and a season-best 11 rebounds in Saturday’s 78-75 victory at Lindenwood.

UCO has won three straight conference games to improve to 6-8 on the season and 4-2 in the MIAA. The Bronchos host intrastate rival Northeastern State in another league game Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
