The Edmond Memorial girls freshman basketball team won three games to take the championship of the Edmond Freshman Tournament recently.
The Lady Bulldogs topped Deer Creek 45-16 in game one, led by Michaela Mack’s 14 points. They beat rival Edmond Santa Fe 42-37 in game two behind a balanced scoring output, as Mack scored 10 points, Avery Ogle 9, Sydney Webb 7 and Elise Wyatt 7.
In the championship game, Memorial won over Midwest City, 42-28. Wyatt led with 13 points, followed by 7 from both Webb and Ogle, and 6 from Taylor Collins.
“Our defense won this game,” Memorial freshman coach Janet Chartney said. “The defense fueled our offense and we played as a team. I’m so proud of these girls. They deserve this championship.”
The win put the Memorial freshmen at 11-1.
