KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Central Oklahoma swept golfer of the week accolades in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Wednesday, with Aly Seng winning the women’s award and Trevor Stafford the men’s honor.
Seng cruised to a dominating seven-shot win at the Green and Gold Shootout hosted by Missouri Western Monday and Tuesday, shooting 75-76 in tough weather conditions for a 153 total at the par-72 St. Joseph (Mo.) Country Club.
It was the first collegiate tournament title for Seng, who played at Arkansas State and Oklahoma before coming to UCO this year. The junior from Enid led the Bronchos to a 55-shot victory in the team race.
Stafford also claimed his first tournament win, taking the Missouri Southern Invitational by four strokes at the Twin Hills Golf and Country Club in Joplin, Mo.
The Edmond Memorial senior followed a first-round 74 with a sizzling 6-under-par 66 to finish with a four-under 140 total in leading the Bronchos to an 11-shot victory in the team race.
Both UCO teams go to Kansas City Monday and Tuesday for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships.
