EDMOND — Sam’s Club will host a member appreciation event at the new Edmond Sam’s Club on Friday from 1–3 p.m. As part of the day’s celebration, University of Oklahoma’s legendary running back Billy Sims will meet with fans and sign free autographs at the Edmond Sam’s Club at 1117 West I-35 Frontage Road.

Sims was a two-time consensus All-American and 1978 Heisman Trophy winner. He led the Big Eight in rushing in both 1978 and ‘79 and led the nation in scoring during both of those years. Sims was the first player taken in the 1980 National Football League draft by the Detroit Lions and was named the Offensive Rookie of the Year. In 1995, he became the 11th Sooner player to be inducted into the National Football Foundation Hall of Fame.

“We encourage fans to join us for a fun and exciting day,” said Jennifer O’Connor, Club manager of the Edmond location. “This event is our way of thanking the community for their patronage of our numerous clubs in the area. We are excited and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces of Edmond and surrounding communities, as we welcome Sooner legend Billy Sims to our new location.”

Sam’s Club opened its newest location in Edmond today.

Sam’s Club members and guests are welcomed and encouraged to visit the Edmond location at any time throughout the day. Autographs are limited to one per person and are only guaranteed for the first 120 people in line, but he will sign more if time allows.
