EDMOND — Edmond Santa Fe's Monica Jones launched two solo home runs, but Edmond Memorial's bats were working and the Bulldogs took a 3-2 win from the Wolves at home Tuesday night.
Memorial got on the board first when Brenlyn McCoy led off the bottom of the first inning with a single and later scored on a Coren Davis ground-out.
Jones' knock to center in the fourth tied things up, but the Bulldog struck again in the fifth with a one-out rally. McCoy singled and Kayla Eichler's double put her at third, then both came home on a Kacey Taylor single to give Memorial a 3-1 advantage.
Jones' second shot of the night fired up the Santa Fe bench to lead off the sixth, but the Wolves could not capitalize and Memorial took the 3-2 Edlam win.
Memorial starting pitcher Eichler went 4 innings, striking out 4 and allowing 3 hits, 1 earned run and 2 walks. Reliever McCoy pitched 3 innings, struck out 3 and allowed 2 hits and 1 earned run.
Santa Fe's Jobi Heath went 6 innings, struck out 2, walked 1 and allowed 3 earned runs on 9 hits.
At the plate, the two home runs were the highlights for the Wolves, who went a collective 5-for-24.
Memorial was led by a 3-for-4 night from McCoy, who also scored the two runs, and Taylor's 2 RBIs on a 2-for-2 night. Eichler was 1-for-1 with a run and Davis was 1-for-3 with an RBI. MaKayla White and Melinda Langley also had hits for the Bulldogs.
Memorial now stands at 7-3 and will travel to U.S. Grant on Thursday. Santa Fe is 4-5 and will face Yukon on the road Thursday.
