The Santa Fe Wolves won a back-and-forth game over Mustang Monday night when Colin Lyon scored on Jacob Jerome’s walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Wolves entered the sixth with a 3-2 lead, gave up the tying and go-ahead runs, put up three runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead, then allowed two more Broncos across the plate to tie the ball game in the top of the seventh before the last-ditch comeback effort.
Jerome led Santa Fe on a 3-for-5 day with a pair of RBIs and a run scored. Daniel Costello drove in two, and Garrett Greenwood and Connor Sweeney had an RBI apiece; Greenwood also went 2-for-2 with a run scored.
The Wolves used five pitchers for their final regular season game, with starter Andrew Sanderson carrying the most load at three innings pitched. He struck out two, walked two, and gave up three hits and an unearned run.
Santa Fe was to take on Lawton Wednesday afternoon in a Class 6A West Regional at Westmoore. With a win, the Wolves will play the Westmoore-Putnam City winner.
