Edmond's Crabaugh makes All-SAC first team

OKLA. CITY — Cody Crabaugh, an Edmond North graduate, along with Derek Howell and Jonathan Sigado made the first team to highlight Oklahoma City University’s All-Sooner Athletic Conference baseball honorees.

 Ten Stars took all-SAC recognition as Cody Ferrell, Kale Gaden, Davis Henderson, Chris Munoz, Jonathan Rodriguez and Forrest Smith were on the second team. Munoz and Brayden Brumley were included on the league gold-glove team.

 Crabaugh, a senior right-handed pitcher from Edmond, has gone 13-1 with a 2.08 earned run average and 72 strikeouts in 86.1 innings pitched. Crabaugh has notched three complete games. He shut out St. Gregory’s on a two-hitter on March 20 in Shawnee and struck out a season-high seven against Mid-America Christian on Thursday in the SAC Tournament. Crabaugh ranks second in wins in the NAIA this season.

 Howell, a senior righty from Krum, Texas, owns a 10-2 record with a 1.53 ERA, 77 strikeouts and 88.1 innings. Howell has posted five complete games and two shutouts, whitewashing Culver-Stockton (Mo.) on Feb. 2 and St. Gregory’s in a no-hitter on March 20. He collected SAC pitcher of the week for March 18-24. Howell ranks fifth nationally in hits allowed per game (5.4) and seventh in opponents’ batting average (.175).

 Sigado, a senior designated hitter from Salem, Ore., has hit .316 with nine doubles, seven home runs and 39 RBIs. Sigado had three hits against Wayland Baptist (Texas) on April 20 and drove in four runs on three occasions.

 Ferrell, a senior center fielder from McLoud, Okla., has recorded a .329 average, six doubles, four triples, nine homers, 32 RBIs and a league-high 33 stolen bases. Ferrell picked up three hits twice and knocked in four runs against Texas Wesleyan on April 22.

 Gaden, a senior catcher-left fielder from Stillwater, Okla., has produced a .321 average, 17 doubles, three triples, 11 homers and 51 RBIs. Gaden has had five three-hit games, two five-RBI games and three doubles at St. Gregory’s on March 20.

 Henderson, a senior right-handed pitcher from Spring, Texas, has registered a 5-2 record, 2.68 ERA, nine saves and 44 strikeouts in 37 innings. Henderson ranks 11th nationally in saves. He fanned six each against Doane (Neb.) on Feb. 2 and Benedictine (Kan.) on Feb. 9.

 Munoz, a senior third baseman from Hacienda Heights, Calif., has hit .331 with 16 doubles, two triples, eight homers, 38 RBIs and 14 steals. Munoz has scored three runs in six games, had five three-hit games and four four-RBI games this year. Munoz has a .959 fielding percentage.

 Rodriguez, a junior right fielder from Anaheim, Calif., has posted a .371 average, 14 doubles, three triples, four homers, 43 RBIs and eight steals. Rodriguez scored four runs twice, nailed three hits four times and drove in four runs against York (Neb.) on Feb. 24.

 Smith, a junior first baseman from Bakersfield, Calif., owns a .312 average, nine doubles, 11 homers and 44 RBIs. Smith collected three runs twice, four hits vs. Doane on Feb. 2 and five RBIs vs. Benedictine on Feb. 10.

 Brumley, a senior left fielder from Ardmore, Okla., has accumulated 52 putouts and two assists without an error this season. He has hit .274 with four doubles, three triples and 17 RBIs this year.
