The pay is pretty good, but it's hard to find a more frustrating job than defensive coordinator at a Big 12 Conference school.
Through the first month of the regular season, Oklahoma State, Baylor and West Virginia lead the nation in both total offense and scoring offense. Texas Tech, which Oklahoma faces on Saturday, is No. 8 in total offense and No. 11 in scoring offense.
"There's a lot of challenges in this league," OU defensive coordinator Mike Stoops said. "They come every week and they come fast and furious and you better be able to play 11-on-11. That's what this game's about. It's people that spread you out and throw the ball and run it. You've got to be a very complete defense. We're going to need all 11 guys to play well and play fast and be in the right spots. If you're not, you're going to get exposed. That's kind of what defense is anymore."
