Central Oklahoma baseball coach Dax Leone and his staff made a major recruiting haul during the fall signing period that ended recently, with the Bronchos inking eight players for 2015.
UCO concentrated on adding to its pitching staff with the early class, signing five junior college pitchers and one high school hurler in addition to a junior college catcher and juco infielder.
Signing with the Bronchos were pitchers Konner Kyser and Drew Polk of Cisco (Texas) College, pitcher Daulton Leiker of Vernon (Texas) College, pitcher Jared Fowler of Eastfield (Texas) College, pitcher Keaton Forrest of Northeast Texas Community College, catcher Brad McDonald of Paris (Texas) Junior College, infielder Jace Bowman of Barton County (Kan.) Community College and pitcher Tanner Andrews of Asher High School.
“This is a really solid early signing class and we really feel we added more quality depth on the mound,” Leone said. “A few of these guys have a chance to be pretty special and rotational type arms on the weekend.
“Jordan McCavitt and Cody Painter did a tremendous job putting this class together and spent numerous hours on the road this fall. They definitely put in the time and effort it takes and we couldn’t be more excited as a program about this group of players.”
