From the plate and from the circle, Emily Watson was the driving force as the Deer Creek Antlers punched their ticket to the Regional finals they are hosting with a 10-0 win over El Reno Wednesday night. Watson threw a no-hitter and drove in four runs, including a two-run home run.
Watson walked one batter, in the fourth inning, but otherwise was perfect, striking out 12 in six innings. She struck out the side in the first and third innings.
The Antlers got on the board with a run in the third inning when Haley Wells doubled in Kelsi Williams.
Watson helped her own cause in the fourth when her double to center field scored Jordan Williams and Bailey Thompson. A few batters later, Wells doubled again, scoring Macy Snyder and Kelsi Williams to put the Antlers up 5-0.
Then in the fifth the floodgates opened when Haley Goodin scored on Meagan Thompson’s double. Two batters later, Watson hit a line-drive home run to left field that scored Meagan Thompson, and Deer Creek led 8-0.
The Antlers brought the game to an early end in the sixth inning when Tori Bennett’s sacrifice grounder scored Kelsi Williams, and Goodin’s double scored Wells.
Deer Creek topped Western Heights 13-1 in the first game on Wednesday. Jordan Williams, Bailey Thompson and Kelsi Williams each had a pair of RBIs, and Tessa Gipson struck out 10 and allowed only two walks and four hits to get the win in five innings.
The Regional finals were scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday.
