LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Central Oklahoma’s national championship softball team added another honor July 3 when head coach Genny Stidham and assistant Cody White were named the National Fastpitch Coaches Association’s Division II National Coaching Staff of the Year.
Stidham and White were also selected the Central Regional Coaching Staff of the Year and beat out seven other regional winners for the national award.
The Bronchos captured the school’s first women’s national title in any sport on May 27 with a 5-2 finals triumph over Kutztown to cap a perfect 9-0 run through the national tournament, outscoring those nine opponents 61-16.
UCO won the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association crown in its first year in the league at 23-3 and finished with a school-record 51 wins, ending the season 51-11.
Stidham ended her 16th season at the helm with a 475-289-2 record. She’s led the Bronchos to the six winningest seasons in school history and seven national tournament berths, including three trips to the Division II Championship Finals (2006, ’12 and ’13).
White completed his first season as Central Oklahoma’s first-ever full-time assistant coach.
