Central Oklahoma earned the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Women's Golf Championships title in its first try Tuesday when winter weather conditions forced the cancellation of the final round. On the men's side, the Bronchos swept both the team and individual title as well.
For the women, the Bronchos had opened up a nine-shot lead over Northeastern State after shooting a 301 in Monday's first round.
Aly Seng claimed the individual championship with an opening-round one-under-par 71. It was the second straight tournament title for UCO, which returns to action at the Central/Midwest Regional May 5-7 in St. Joseph, Mo.
Winter weather conditions forced the cancellation of the final day of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Men's Golf Championships also, therefore handing Central Oklahoma both the team and individual titles. The Bronchos entered the day with a big 18-shot advantage over Central Missouri after shooting an eight-under-par 568 during Monday's double round and Tuesday's cancellation gave UCO its second straight tournament crown. Dillon Rust ended up as the medalist with a seven-under 137 total after shooting rounds of 67-70 Monday. UCO will return to action at the Central/Midwest Regional May 6-8 in Kenosha, Wis.
