CHOCTAW — The defending Class 6A boys soccer champion Edmond North Huskies still have not been defeated going into Friday night’s battle with crosstown rival Santa Fe.

The Huskies are a stout 11-0 and are ranked third in the nation.

“We have 13 seniors on this team and we have a great chance to defend our title but the competition is very good,” North skipper Chris Waugh said. “Since high school boys soccer started in 1985 there has only been two repeat state champions in 6A. We know we have a very tough road in front of us but this team is going to give it their best effort.”

Tuesday at Choctaw, Edmond North destroyed the Yellowjackets by an 8-1 count which included a pair of goals and an assist by Clay Collier and three assists by Joe Collier.

Teammates Ross Stewart (2 assists) and Zac Medawattage (score and assist) also chipped in solid performances according to Waugh.

The Huskies outshot Choctaw, 14-1.

In the opener, Edmond North blitzed the Lady Jackets, 8-nothing.

Gia Nellius notched a hat trick with one goal on an assist from Chandler Wilson.

Kayci Kersten hit the back of the net on a dish from Abbey Bright while teammates Shanna Rolfs, Addie Guthrie, Haley Felix and Lillie Synan also scored on the road.
