EDMOND — Both Edmond Santa Fe’s Brinn Fariss and Edmond North’s Allison Sell kept pace with the leaders in Tuesday’s Class 6A state golf tournament at River Oaks Country Club.

As scores were coming in, the pair out of Edmond were both 4-over-par keeping in step with the leaders.

“She’s (Fariss) having a really good, solid day staying right with Tulsa Union,” Santa Fe skipper Glen Gateley said at the tournament.

Fariss, only a sophomore, is coming off a regional individual championship with a blistering 67 at Westwood Golf Course in Norman.

She kept pace Tuesday with par saves, chipping back into the fairway and scrambling to stay away from bogeys.

For Sell, last year’s state individual champion, the Lady Husky did not have a birdie until the 14th hole, when she missed just right of the flag on her approach shot from inside 150 yards. Going downhill, Sell put on the perfect touch as the ball just crawled in to get back to 4-over.

North won the 6A regional at Westwood.

“It was a good time for everyone’s game to come around,” stated North coach Audra Smalley. “It’s good anytime you have three girls get in the 70s.”

Maddie Herron shot a 75 to lead the Huskies in Norman while Jordyn Armstrong and Sell also shot below 80.

Tee times will begin Thursday morning at 9:30 for the final round at River Oaks, weather permitting.
