OCS wins DC tourney

The Oklahoma Christian School boy’s tennis team kicked off their season on a positive note. The Saints earned wins at the Pauls Valley Tournament on March 11 and took first at the Deer Creek Tournament the following day.

OCS won all four events at the Pauls Valley Tournament, and easily cruised to a first place finish.

Jefferson Berryman finished first in No. 1 singles at Pauls Valley. He won his first two matches 6-0, 6-0 and beat Seminole’s Jared Choate 6-3, 6-1 in the championship.

Ryan Witham also won in No. 2 singles. He knocked off Duncan’s Colton Burge, Pauls Valley’s Morgan Ely and Zach Wiseman of Elk City by identical scores of 6-0, 6-0.

Austin Bell and Connor Tebow won the No. 1 doubles, while Brandon Parduhn and Jon Thompson took first place in No. 2 doubles.

The Saints also had two individual and one doubles team place at the March 12 Deer Creek Tournament.

Berryman took second in No. 1 singles after losing to Putnam City North’s Chris Hayworth 0-6, 0-6.

Witham beat PC North’s T.J. Becker 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 to win the No. 2 singles.

And the Saints No. 1 doubles squad of Bell and Tebow beat PC North 6-2, 6-2 in the championship.

The boy’s team will be back in action March 24 when they play at Casady.
