Cimarron Middle School blanks Central

The Cimarron Middle School football teams kept their perfect records intact with a pair of shutouts against Central Middle School Tuesday night at Edmond Memorial.

The “A” team build a 24 point lead at halftime, and hung on for a 30-0 route.

Michael Farmer had a field day, racking up 175 yards of offense and two scores.

They also got it done with a strong defensive effort. Cimarron forced five turnovers, with Nick Strawn, Holden Stoner, Korey Emery, Jeremy Morgan and Farmer recovering fumbles, and Caleb Dobbs adding an interception.

“We’re extremely proud of the offense and the defense’s effort,” Cimarron coach Darren Huff said. “Our defenses have only given up six points on the season. They’re playing extremely well.”

Cimarron jumped on top with a pair of touchdown runs in their first two possessions of the game. Ben Moore scored on a 26-yard run, and Farmer found the end zone from 30 yards out.

Farmer tacked on his second score of the night, when he ran one in from 66 yards out with 30 seconds left in the half.

Korey Emery rounded out the scoring when he scored on a 20-yard run with 5:26 left in the third quarter.

The Cimarron “B” team also had success against Central. They took the lead with a 16-yard run by Devin French in the second quarter, and hung to win 8-0.

“We had great effort out most all of our guys on defense,” Huff said. “Offensively our guys played tough. We moved the ball and our line and backs blocked extremely well to help us put the ball in the end zone and win. We’re extremely proud of their effort.”

Cimarron “B” team got a bit of luck late in the game, as Central threatened to score. A Central touchdown with 1:03 left in the game was called back. And on the final play of the game the ball was snapped over the Central quarterback’s head, and Sam Rolle picked it up and ran 45 yards, before being brought down at the Central 15-yard line.

Both teams will return to action Tuesday night against Yukon Independence. The “B” team will take the field at 6 p.m., with the “A” game to follow at 7:30 p.m.
