The Edmond Memorial boys picked up their second straight first-place finish Thursday afternoon, as they cruised past the competition in the Mustang Harrier Invitational at Wild Horse Park. The Bulldog’s won the large school boys’ race with 45 points.
Santa Fe’s Ethan Pollock placed third overall, helping the Wolves to a second place finish with 83 points. North also took part in the race, placing fourth with 89 points.
Eric Talbert led the way for the ‘Dogs, who had six runners medal Thursday afternoon. Talbert was second through the gate with a time of 16:57. Brian Wilson was close behind in fifth place, Ty Stukey placed 10th, Colton Bohannon was 11th, Caleb Holt was 20th and Kyle Burks placed 22nd.
The Wolves had three runners place in the top 20. Pollock led the way with a third-place finish, while Christian Pearson was 15th and Matt Oesterle placed 16th.
The Huskies were led by Adam Godwin, who took fourth with a time of 17:11. Kyle Costello finished seventh, Dylan Crawford was 18th and P.J. Osborn came in 28th place.
Norman’s Parker Bowles won the large school boys’ race with a time of 16:37.
On the girls side of the action, it was North that set the pace. The Lady Huskies had four top 10 runners, and won the large school girls’ race with 27 points.
Memorial was right behind them in second with 46 points and the Santa Fe girl’s finished the day in fourth place.
North sophomore Hannah Helker beat out Memorial’s Jill Enge for first place, finishing in 12:18. The Lady Huskies also got strong performances from Meredith Farley, who finished third, Anna Kimsey, who took fourth, and Megan Watson, who placed seventh. Ashley Webb and Martha Blaess also medaled for North.
Enge was the first through the gate for the Lady ‘Dogs, finishing in 12:27. K.K. Washbourne placed 10th, Carley Ellis was 11th, Emily Day came in 17th and Aubrey Young was 22nd.
Shannon Ray was Santa Fe’s top placer. The freshman finished 13th with a time of 13:12. Mackenzie Cobble placed 20th, Alyssa Nale was 23rd and Lindsay Weiss finished 24th for the Lady Wolves.
All three schools will be back in action next weekend. North and Memorial will head to Stillwater for the OSU Cowboy Jamboree on and the Santa Fe squads will travel to Marlow.
