Santa Fe, North win matches

Santa Fe downs Irish, Lady Huskies whip Enid

The No. 3-ranked Santa Fe volleyball team sent its seniors out in style, with a 3-0 win over No. 10 Bishop McGuinness on Tuesday night.

Santa Fe (19-7) won the match behind strong efforts from Halie Harrington and Tate Hardaker, winning 27-25, 25-21, 25-16.

Despite the win, Santa Fe head coach Will Ethridge didn’t seem to pleased.

“We had our moments, we just lack consistency,” Ethridge said. “A little inconsistent, we’ve had good matches, but then we’ll turn around and not play so good.”

Harrington had four service aces and three blocks, while Hardaker finished with a .318 attack percentage, leading the Lady Wolves with nine kills. Mindy Gowen finished the match with 21 digs.

The Lady Wolves are all but assured of getting to host a regional, which begin on Oct. 9. Pairings are to be released on Friday.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Lady Wolves, who host No. 7-ranked Jenks on Thursday in its season finale.

“It’s a big one for us, it can definitely hurt us. They are a very strong team, they went five with Memorial and five with Bishop Kelley,” Ethridge said.

The match is scheduled to start at 6:15 p.m.
