Saints hang 48 points on Savages in first half

A multitude of mistakes by Wynnewood added up to a blowout win for Oklahoma Christian School on Friday night as the Saints won its homecoming game 48-13.

The Saints (3-2, 2-1) scored a pair of touchdowns — a one-yard score from Jeff Smith and a 5-yard quarterback keeper from Jack Warren — in the final two minutes of the first quarter to take a 14-0 lead, in an otherwise close game.

But OCS scored four touchdowns in a span of 8:27 in the second to take a 48-0 halftime lead.

Warren scored his second touchdown of the night with a 22-yard touchdown run early in the second, and moments later hooked up with Jon Sykes for a 22-yard touchdown through the air to make it 27-0.

With 5:40 left in the second, Parker Cobbs recovered a fumble in the Savages end zone for another score, widening the gap to 34 points after the extra-point attempt.

And then Jake Tillman was on the receiving end of a 17-yard touchdown pass from Sykes, and the rout was on.

Following a special teams miscue that left the Savages stuck at their own three-yard line, Jeff Levy blocked a punt and returned it for a touchdown to make it 48-0.

Wynnewood was aided by a running clock in the second half, scoring its only points of the contest on its final two possessions of the fourth quarter, both runs by Bobby Rushing.

The Saints will host Wellston next Friday night.
