Things have not gone quite the way Keith Lough had hoped they would but had hope they would, but the first-year head coach and his Oklahoma Christian Academy squad are not letting up. The Eagles have another legitimate shot at the win column Thursday night when they host Sasakwa.
The Vikings (5-1) have posted several big wins this season, but struggled in their toughest test against No. 9-ranked Maud, losing 55-0.
“The other teams they’ve beat don’t have real good records, just comparing those, and I’m hoping we can matchup well with them,” Lough said. “This was one I’d picked before the season that we’d have a good chance to win.”
Lough said he has not seen Sasakwa in action, but believes the two teams have a lot in common.
“They’ve been rebuilding their program too,” Lough said. “They’ve kept things pretty simple and had some success at it.”
The Vikings stick to a basic 3-2 defense scheme and primarily run their offense out of a double tight set.
“We’ve seen a lot of formations, so we should be able to line up them,” Lough said. “I thought we played a little better defense last week, we had them in fourth down a few times, but it’s still the big play that has been hurting us.”
Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Oklahoma Christian University.
