Antlers bounce back with big win over Chicks
Deer Creek didn’t let last week’s loss linger in their minds very long. The Antlers instead bounced back with a 49-7 rout of Chickasha Friday night.
“Tonight was a big night for us to take that step,” Deer Creek coach Grant Gower said. “At this stage all games are important, because they all figure in the playoffs. There’s no way we could look past anyone. We did a good job focusing and taking care of it tonight.”
Deer Creek out-gained the Chicks in offensive yardage, 460-114. The Antlers defense also forced three turnovers.
Dax Dilbeck posted another monster night. The senior quarterback rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns, while also passing for two more scores.
Colten Sander added two TD runs and finished with 74 yards on the ground.
By halftime the Antlers were nursing a 35-point lead, and about four minutes into the third quarter that lead grew to 49-0. Zach Trujillo caught a 23-yard TD pass and Dilbeck ran for a 46-yard score to put the Chicks away.
