The No. 8-ranked Edmond North girls used a solid defensive effort to down Mustang Tuesday night. The Lady Huskies (4-1) held Mustang scoreless until midway through the second quarter, and cruised to a 59-36 win.
“We jumped out early and played extremely well defensively in first half,” North coach Kevin Korstjens said. “We just did really well from the beginning and didn’t give up easy buckets off rebounds.”
Elizabeth Donohoe led the way for the Lady Huskies, scoring 13 points and grabbing eight rebounds. TaNita Dewberry finished with 10 points and five rebounds, while Anna Kimsey added seven points and six rebounds.
Donohoe scored seven points in the first quarter, helping North take a 20-0 lead at the end of the one. The Lady Broncos finally got on the board near the 3:30 mark in the second, and North went into the locker room with a 32-9 lead.
North will close out the year on Friday night when they travel to Stillwater.
