Memorial’s Obi Emegano had another stellar performance, as the sophomore led the Bulldogs to a 62-41 win over Chickasha in the consolation championship of the Chickasha Tournament.
Emegano, who has had a productive week, scored a game-high 30 points and pulled down 15 rebounds on the afternoon.
“Obi, he’s only a sophomore and he’s still just 15 years-old, he’s a baby trapped in a man’s body as far as basketball is concerned,” Memorial head coach Shane Cowherd said. “But he went 20 and 10 against Midwest City, 10 and 8 on Thursday, 20 and 13 against Mustang, and then 30 and 15 today. That’s quite a week for anybody.”
The Bulldogs jumped on the Chicks early, taking a 16-8 lead into the second quarter. And they added onto that, leading by 20 at the break.
“We had good performances from everybody, but the team realized we had an advantage with Obi, and they went to him,” Cowherd said. “When you have a young team, the last thing you have to learn is how to handle success, and for the first time this year we had back-to-back solid performances, which is really encouraging.”
The Bulldogs (6-4) will host Moore on Tuesday night.
