North girls top Mustang, 60-36

The Edmond North girls made it look easy again on Friday night. The No. 5-ranked Lady Huskies held Mustang to 18 points through the first three quarters of play, and easily came away with their 10th win a row, knocking off the Broncos, 60-36.

“I just thought it was really solid effort defensively,” North coach Kevin Korstjens said. “With all the distractions with BALTO this week and homecoming on top of it, I thought we were real focussed. And not only the effort was good, but I thought we looked pretty sharp.”

Elizabeth Donohoe led all scorers with 16 points and seven rebounds. Tiara Dewberry and Callie Heerwagen added six points apiece for the Lady Huskies.

Donohoe helped the Lady Huskies jumped to a big lead in the first quarter. The sophomore scored 13 points in the first quarter, and the Lady Huskies led 20-9 at the end of one.

North’s lead continued to grow in the second quarter, as they held Mustang to just five points and took a 36-14 advantage at the break.

The Lady Huskies didn’t slow down in the second half, and led by 25 points at the end the third quarter. The North bench then closed out the night with a big fourth-quarter effort.

Next up for the North girls will be a rematch with No. 11 Putnam City North. The Panthers were the last team to beat North, having won 48-42 at the Siberian Gym on Jan. 6.
