No. 4-ranked Edmond North jumped out to a 20-point lead on Stillwater, before holding on for a 60-50 win in the first round of the Edmond Open on Thursday night.

Elizabeth Donohoe led all scorers, as the Oklahoma State verbal commit, scored 24 points.

The Lady Huskies (3-0) were tied with Southmoore at 12-apiece when Stillwater’s Emma Gade knocked down a jumper with 1:11 left in the first, before North’s Emily Davis got baskets on consecutive possessions to give North a 16-12 lead heading into the second quarter.

Gade knocked down a 3-pointer early in the second to pull the Lady Pioneers within 1-point, but North answered back with a basket from Ella Voss and a 3-pointer from Jennifer Lee to edge out to a 21-15 lead.

Donohoe gave the Lady Huskies a 32-22 lead at the half, knocking down a buzzer-beater from the free-throw line.

North used a 8-2 run at the end of the third to forge a 46-28 lead.

It started with a basket from Donohoe with 4:18 left to play. Davis scored four points during the run, while TaNita Dewberry had the other basket.

Davis continued her streak in the fourth as the junior guard scored five-straight points to give North a 51-30 advantage before Stillwater went on a run of their own.

Gade knocked down a three with 5:44 remaining in the contest to spur 10-0 run, which ended with another 3-pointer from the junior sharpshooter, cutting North’s lead to 51-40 with 3:38 left.

North head coach Kevin Korstjens then brought Donohoe off the bench to ice the game. The junior scored North’s next six points as they held a 15 point lead and held on for the 10-point win.

Davis scored 13 points in the win, Dewberry added eight, while Anna Kimsey scored five points, all of which came in the first 3:30 of the contest.
